Aadun, which translates to “sweetness”, is a savory snack of Yoruba origin; mostly consumed among the Yoruba who live mainly in the South-western part of Nigeria. It is a snack prepared from maize (Zea mays) which constitutes about 80% of the total composition and it is made from a combination of roasted corn flour, palm oil, and spices. The locally-made Aadun was very rich in potassium, calcium, and phosphorus, and rich in magnesium, sodium, and zinc. Enrichment generally led to an increase in mineral content.
